Coping with RSD: What is Avoidance?

Avoidance often looks like freezing up, feeling blocked, or giving up when success cannot be guaranteed. If it’s work that you’re avoiding, these behaviors often mimic and exacerbate existing struggles with executive dysfunction, forgetfulness, procrastination, and distraction. If it is a social function of some kind, it may show up as social anxiety, deprioritization of a relationship, or cause you to hyperfocus on something other than the social situation or person you are avoiding.
